Freedom of expression online, the great inspiring vision of so many early internet pioneers, is not entirely bereft of support even now, it seems. The good news is that WordPress, the outfit that hosts Heretic TOC, has a strong track record of opposing censorship and has positively rejected the recent attempt to have this blog closed down.
It will be recalled that a certain “Scarlet Wilde” tweeted, ““Paedophile blogs at WordPress: Heretic TOC… am reporting to close.” (See Heretic TOC threatened with closure, 10 January). It has now emerged that this was not just an idle threat. “Scarlet Wilde” has her own WordPress blog, where she recently posted a piece called The problem with paedophile PR. Towards the end she said:
Finally, I would like to let other WordPress users know that we are sharing our blogging platform with known paedophiles and paedophile activists. I have reported these sites to WordPress, but they will not take action to close them down unless there are pictures of actual abuse etc. This makes me uncomfortable about blogging here, so I am considering a move to another platform which has a stronger policy on sites advocating the promotion of sex with children.
Ever obliging, Heretic TOC is pleased to assist with such a move by recommending an alternative platform: Blogger. As Steve Diamond helpfully commented:
Blogger [owned by google] is hands down, the single worst abusive censor of people like us, I have ever witnessed. There are [or at least were] people on their staff, who think nothing of taking personal interest in hounding people off of the service…
Scarlet Wilde should feel completely at ease in this paradise of persecution and I wish her joy of it!
I confess, though, that Heretic TOC’s choice of WordPress was a matter of pure dumb luck: they have an attractive range of site formats and just happened to be in my face with their promotional material at the right time. So it is only now, in the wake of this censorship scare, that I have checked them out a bit. The WordPress entry in Wikipedia notes attempts to scupper their operations in Turkey and Brazil by parties who dislike their commitment to free expression. Likewise in China they were blocked for a while. Matt Mullenweg, the young entrepreneur who developed WordPress, said:
WordPress.com supports free speech and doesn’t shut people down for ‘uncomfortable thoughts and ideas’, in fact we’re blocked in several countries because of that.
Turns out there are nearly 60 million WordPress.com sites, and clients include CNN, CBS, BBC, Reuters, Sony and Volkswagen. Not bad going for a 2005 start-up, especially when parent company Automattic (the spelling plays on the founder’s first name) appears to be staffed entirely by trendy teenagers (well, from my old timer’s perspective that’s what they look like in their photos on the About Us page) with job titles like “happiness engineer”, “bug exorcist” and “accelerant”.
Well, they have certainly engineered a bit of happiness here at Heretic TOC. Long may their freedom policy prosper!
Gosh, I don’t even REMEMBER “pre-1980”! What I do recall are the laughing kids — filled with curiosity and bubbling life.
But they all grew up, and some of them were, understandably, have been deeply affected by the paedophobic culture that followed those golden days. Imagine living in a place where it is accepted that a pat on the bum can be said to destroy a person, both physically and mentally?
And then there is the money involved… Think of standing to gain eighty thousand from a civil case — in which the standard of proof is laughably low. The crime — which, at the time was warm, loving FUN for the boy — is now seen as “…a crime worse than murder”.

Are you actually saying that sexual contact with children is “warm, loving FUN for the boy”?? I grew up living on site in residential schools for what was then termed EBD boys, from 1971 – 1990, most had suffered sexual abuse as youngsters and I don’t recall any of them thinking of it as fun. I just saw emotional difficulties as a result of sexual contact coming too soon in their lives. Some even went on to carry out heinous crimes, including murder and I have no doubt in my mind that was a result of neglect and abuse in childhood. I’m so confused about how anyone can think it is beneficial to take away an innocence of childhood for their own satisfaction. Maybe someone here can try and explain it to me? i would like to add many people i know that suffered abuse as a child don’t want financial compensation but just want to be heard and see someone take responsibility for their ‘lost’ childhood.
Sorry, Willowearth, that you were so badly affected by your experiences. Yet it is a classic argument of that same paedophobic culture that the abused becomes the abuser in his turn. I also spent many years in boarding schools. It was then generally believed that the bullied boy become a bully in his turn? What nonsense! A very large part of the ongoing difficulty here, in discussing these issues, is firstly that people persist in posting anonymously and in doing so block any factual and verifiable cases from being presented, and secondly as I have said and written often enough this unwarranted obsession with sex obfuscates issues of real childhood abuse.
Over more than 25 years now I have persistently run into these complaints of ‘childhood sexual abuse’ propagated through the media as triggering later drug and alcohol abuse, crime, violence, all sorts of things, when the scientific evidence does not support that assumption at all. Going back to examine the childhood of such people professionally we find general abuse and neglect most evident, and any sexual component minor or non-existent.
What I understand Michael to be discussing is a happy family life, probably in the tropics or some warm place like Australia, where children of both sexes routinely ran around naked and went skinny dipping, and obviously as they came of age began to express their curiosity. Far more commonly the world over children bathe and sleep with their parents and others.
That’s not a question of abuse, but normal intimacy and care and acceptance in a healthy family. It is dressing that has to be taught, not nudity or as we used to say ‘birthday suits’. It is always a dilemma for a parent or significant other to risk guilt and shame in a child by being too strict with them, and I know myself numbers of children thrashed when ‘caught in the act’, or better having a sense of humour about it.
That anybody would confuse healthy happy family life with neglect and abuse to the extent of institutionalisation, is beyond me. I find it greatly disturbing that people cannot see the difference, apparently from what I can gather because something called ‘sex’ is involved?
By God, children are naturally inquisitive, and as often just plain naughty, and I mean here sexually. What in Heaven’s name is wrong with that?
It’s the simplest thing on earth to explain to them the difference between what is acceptable behaviour and what isn’t, which I have to say varies enormously between families much less cultures and societies.
Far better to just stop beating children, stop yelling at them, feed them and care for them properly, than be worrying over (for boys) sword fights in the shower, brown eyes, and the various girl equivalents.

I’m pleased to learn that blogger has changed it’s ways. Yes, this was a number of years back, which I speak of…Thing is, you don’t forget that kind of outrageous maltreatment…and it’s hard to feel at all secure on a service like that, after experiencing such a history with it.

Chasing up this David Icke character, had never heard of him until this month, and asking some of the kids about him. I have one of them living with me full time now, after I helped pull him out of suicidal depression a couple of years ago.

I have plenty of characters from previous work thematically exploring interactions between the Victorian industrial nuclear ‘family’ and Celtic and Aboriginal extended families with their adoptive, classificatory kinship systems and broad traditions of fosterage and adoption. Read ‘The Inheritor’, as a good example, also ‘Outbound’.
Sorry if it looks like getting too technical anthropologically, but I have plenty of real life experience to draw from, especially in my own relationships with so very many boys over the years with blessings and support from parents until a change of government and with it feminist political ideology injected its poison into the community. As mentioned, I’m currently rereading Jim Kincaid’s, ‘Child-Loving: The Erotic Child and Victorian Culture’, in which he writes and I quote:

Starting to think seriously now, because my new novel has started to take off with 5-6 chapters in train, of a new and freely expressed literary reoffensive, a cultural renewal.

No, indeed, saying that was just an excuse for tracing his odd story in a way that enabled me to ramble on about old times and my strange connection with him. I just had a quick look at Scarlet Wildes’ blog, it’s nothing but a diary of unadulterated misandry and superstitious rubbish. The woman is nothing more than a typical bitter and jealous, feministstupid brained half-wit. I had to laugh at her so telling (that she’s a bitter & JEALOUS femihag), articles on things like how great it is to be an older woman… LOL!
Unfortunately, it is her brand of total paedohysterical drivel that most of our society are hooked on. It is that kind of blog that is responsible for the dominant narrative that has destroyed the family unit and all but destroyed our society.
I believe that our so-called ‘advanced and informed’ society of today is even more gullible and stupid, not to mention superstitious, than were our inbred, pitch-fork wielding 16th century inquisitorial ancestors.
This is why I am an Anti-Feminist, for I believe it is the feminist movement that is responsible for 99.9% of these totally ridiculous laws on ‘paedophilia’ and even worse: the totally oppressive, cruel and Draconian Laws on NORMAL Male sexuality, including those outrageous ‘Child pornography laws.

It’s well known that I don’t use a blogging service but run my own web server. It sits next to my main workstation under my desk. On that server I run WordPress, the downloadable version with its many many theme options, as my preferred CMS.
On that version, clearly displayed, is their motto: “Code is Poetry.”

Checking out that “Scarlet Wilde” character reveals not too much to worry about. Obsessed with ever-present threats to decency and happy marriage, and on remanufacturing the “woman” in “modern society” as the perpetual victim, she’s having a go at anyone and everyone being reported in the tabloid press as appearing even remotely threatening to her ideal construct of happily married life and childhood innocence, and Queen Anne furniture, and lace and embroidery and purple and pink wallpaper.
I very much doubt even Peter Pan would pass muster, which is where all this started perhaps, way back then. Makes you stop and look again, doesn’t it?
