This blog is under threat of closure. Scarlet Wilde@wilde has tweeted:

If the site goes down, I’ll aim to reopen elsewhere but it may take a while. Keep an eye out for new link announced at the start of the month on Boy Links or contact me here to be on list for info about new URL: tomocarr66@yahoo.co.uk . Also, advice appreciated on best way forward. Can we fight this?
I would not advise using blogger [blogspot]. I know there are some people who have their schemes, and like to keep a “moving” presence on blogger [a tactic I actually find very annoying, really]…But if you cant have a stable presence, then it defeats the typical purpose of writing in the first place.
Blogger [owned by google] is hands down, the single worst abusive censor of people like us, I have ever witnessed. There are [or at least were] people on their staff, who think nothing of taking personal interest in hounding people off of the service…One of these nameless, faceless people even “hacked” my account…literally removing features from my blog dashboard. They made it hard for me to open up new blogs [after they subjectively deleted my blogs], and impossible to edit my own biography information.
I think they were penalizing me because of the [tame and level headed] content in my bio…It simply listed a bit of my history, as a BL…but they never told me this, when they deleted my blogs…The bio which I could not edit or delete, was automatically included whenever you opened up a new blog.
Blogger is run by dirt-bags.
Now…if we had several hundred, maybe a thousand or more people who were willing to just keep opening accounts/blogs and writing, to establish that they will not run us off…I might actually return…But it would not so much be for typical blogging.
Go Blogger (and be ‘strategic’) … much more ‘tolerant’ (but always back the data up !!!).

Does http://www.blogger.com/ accept backups from WordPress? Don’t they have to be http://wordpress.org/ format for a restore to work?
(Clearly Scarlet Wilde has just copied the first five entries from Heretic TOC’s blogroll regardless of whether they are blogs or not.)
I guess Heretic TOC could start afresh — if necessary — at Blogger or elsewhere as an emergency measure, but with backposts still visible if I make the current backup available on Dropbox. Would that work?
Methinks this Wild Scarlet has simply taken the links from your own list and twittered them trying to scatter your wits. The only one hosted by WordPress is Heretic TOC itself.
It’s standard procedure. After all these years you might be used to it by now, and have your own psychological resistence as well as external defences mounted against it.
Gil, are you saying she has probably not complained to WordPress, but just tweeted? You say “After all these years you might be used to it by now”, but I’ve only been blogging for just over two months, so I don’t know what you mean. As for external defences, I now have the site mirrored but not hosted. Any thoughts on the latter? I’d rather not go down the Linux route as it would slow me down for a while. Probably best to email any further thoughts.
What I am saying is there are already too many signs of deception, of a stunt, taking the piss, easy to read and assess for what it is.

One thing you are teaching me I guess, for my part, is how the tabloids and print media operate hierarchically, though I would say to you that the strictures against arbitrary site closure here on the Internet these days are phenomenal.
This Internet thingey doesn’t work the same way at all. It’s not a formal board meeting but a rowdy market place, a Billingsgate (trying to find a frame of reference here) if you will.
Thus my reason for reading the ‘threat’ as no threat, not even posturing, just the usual taking the mickey designed to throw you off-balance, as if the threat were real and direct. And it worked.

Fine, Gil, if there’s really no threat I’ll be happy to relax, but I don’t get it when you say “the strictures against arbitrary site closure here on the Internet these days are phenomenal”. What strictures? Enforced by whom? What is to prevent WordPress from giving this site its marching orders? I don’t know of any rules or laws obliging them to host blogs of which they disapprove. Not that they necessarily do disapprove: that remains to be seen.
Most of the sites named aren’t “Paedophile blogs at WordPress” by any definition.

There has been a steady srtream of closure treats posted to BoyChat for over a decade – and it is still there. Of ocurse, the threat you mention could be more substantive – but let’s hope it is just more malignant hyper-feminazisi hysterical hype.
